Types of glass

As you’d expect from a glass and glazing company, we can offer plenty of different types of glass to homes and businesses throughout Doncaster and the surrounding area.

We appreciate that it’s not always easy to decide what the right product might be. If you need a helping hand choosing the glass that’s right for your project, then give us a call on 01302 304555. With years of experience in the industry, we can make a recommendation that fits your criteria.

Clear glass

We stock five different thicknesses of glass: 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 6mm and 10mm. Each of these can be cut to size at our workshop, so you can go away with the product you need sooner rather than later.

Need another thickness of glass? Just let us know and we’ll order it for you. We’ll be in touch as soon as it arrives.

Patterned glass

We stock Pilkington patterned glass, which can be used for a range of projects throughout your home or business. Each of these styles is available in 4mm and 6mm and can be cut to the size you want.

Some examples of the patterns we offer are:

  • Arctic
  • Chantilly
  • Mayflower
  • Florielle
  • Charcoal Sticks
  • Autumn Leaf
  • Sycamore
  • Minster
  • Stippolyte
  • Flemish
  • Cotswold

Coloured glass

If you’re looking for coloured glass in Doncaster, then be sure to give us a call. We can provide sprayed splashbacks in any colour, and they all come with ground and polished edges.

We can also provide toughened coloured glass if required. Typically, customers ask for this when they’re installing a splashback behind their cooker hob where it will be subjected to high heat.

Greenhouse glass

Greenhouse glass is something many of our customers ask for. We have a range of standard panes of greenhouse and horticultural glass, but they can be cut to other sizes if necessary.

We also provide a fitting service if you’re not confident about doing it yourself. Give us a call on 01302 304555 to find out more.

Mirrors

Bespoke mirrors are another area that we specialise in. We offer the following types of glass:

  • 4 mm silvered
  • 4 mm bronze silvered
  • 6 mm silvered
  • 6 mm bronze silvered
  • Antique silvered

Take a look at our mirrors page for more information.

Laminated safety glass

We typically install laminated safety glass in doors and roof windows – mainly anywhere where it’s at risk of human impact. Unlike other types of glass, it will hold together on impact and is therefore popular at commercial premises. It also has good sound insulation qualities.

The types of laminated safety glass we provide are:

  • 6.4 mm clear laminated
  • 8.8 mm clear laminated
  • 10.8 mm clear laminated
  • 6.4 mm acid laminate opaque

Fire-rated glass

All fire-rated glass we provide must conform to European safety standards. The protection it offers is ranked in terms of time periods - 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 minutes.

In order to achieve this level of performance, fire rated glass should always be installed by a professional.

The types of fire rated glass we install are:

  • Georgian wired polished plate
  • Georgian wired rough cast
  • Pyroguard c730
  • Pyroguard c1160
  • 15 mm Pyrostop

If you require any other fire rated glass in Doncaster, then get in touch to tell us what you need.

Double glazed units

We can provide double glazing in Doncaster using a variety of different types of glass. It all depends on where abouts in your home and business it’s being installed.

Our units are available in:

  • Clear glass
  • Toughened safety glass
  • Laminated safety glass
  • Grey/bronze antisun
  • Satin/sandblasted
  • Pilkington patterns

For more information on our double glazing services, check out the dedicated page on our website.

Anti-vandal polycarbonate

There are certain situations when you might need to install anti-vandal polycarbonate glass. This product is unbreakable and available from Adrian Welch Glass & Glazing as either 4mm or 6mm Lexan.

Toughened glass

Toughened glass goes through a specialist process to increase its strength. When shattered, it usually forms into smaller pieces rather than sharp shards, which can make it a safer option for your home or business.

Any cutting or grinding of the glass must be done before it’s toughened. Any attempt to do this afterwards will cause it to break.

We recommend that you use toughened glass for doors, glass table tops, refrigerator shelves and many other applications. Our team can advise you on this.

Adrian Welch Glass & Glazing can supply most toughened glass requirements, including double glazed units, within three to five working days.

Glass processing

There are a number of jobs we can do in our warehouse. These include grinding and polishing sharp glass edges, drilling holes and cutting glass, shelves and mirrors to the right size and shape.
